Description
If you want an inexpensive yet natural-feeling solution for missing teeth, overdentures are an excellent choice. Unlike a traditional removable denture, an overdenture attaches to four or more Dental Implants, keeping your denture in place without completely covering the palate. Prosthodontist David Casagrande offers this dentistry solution to patients at his Billings, MT, office who want a cost-effective yet long-term solution for missing teeth.

Dr. Casagrande: This is an overdenture, and what an overdenture means is that, if you will, it is made out of the same products a denture is, pink plastic holding plastic teeth and covering most of the roof of your mouth. In this particular case, if you have at least four implants placed in the jaw successfully, then the whole palate doesn't have to be covered and therefore more of the palate is open, and that allows much better tasting of food.
An overdenture snaps on and off. As you can see in this model, we have the silver implants coming through the gum tissue, as can be seen on both sides, and then we have the silver-looking titanium bar that hooks those all together, that snap into the female receptacles inside of the denture. This is probably the most inexpensive, excellent, long-term restoration there is for a full arch called an overdenture.
